ROUTES: RI-1A, Ocean Rd

The scenic Route 1A to Ocean Road in Narragansett is one of the best driving roads in Rhode Island. Much of this scenic RI road is coastal, and passes alongside state beaches. Ocean Road will take you through a twisty ride alongside beautiful homes. Drive this road south all the way to the historic Point Judith Lighthouse and the nearby plateau overlook of the Atlantic. This is a popular summer drive, but there's great seafood restaurants, clamshacks and cafes along the way. The road pavement quality is in very good condition most of the way, making for a smooth cruising road with lots of scenic sights to see.
Travel the scenic Route 1A from Wickford all the way south to the Point Judith Lighthouse just off Ocean Rd.

This beautiful Rhode Island road will take the driver through Little Compton down to Sakonnet Point. Rhode Island Route 77 offers a smooth ride past quaint farmlands and green pastures. It's a relaxing drive through some of the state's most scenic country landscape. Little Compton is known for its quilt work pattern of stone wall bounded farms and woodland, complemented by saltwater ponds and ocean views. The end of this short ride offers views of Sakonnet Point Lighthouse as well as Newport's beaches and Wildlife Refuge across the bay.
Pick up RI-77 just off Route 24 in Tiverton, RI. Drive south 14 miles to Sakonnet Point.

DISTANCE: 20 miles

Route 14 is a great way to travel through central Rhode Island. Sports car drivers will enjoy the views of the Scituate Reservoir as well cruising through leafy forests. While Route 14 expands across the entire state, the best part to drive is from I-295 to the Connecticut state line. There's some fun, sweeping curves and deep forests. The nearby RI-12 and RI-116 also are curvy roads to drive in the area.
Pick up RI-14 from Providence and drive 20 miles west to the Connecticut state line.

Jamestown is a charming little community that lies between Newport and Narragansett. While it's not as popular with tourists visiting Rhode Island, it makes for a pleasant area to cruise with a sports car or convertible. You'll be driving by peaceful farms, historic lighthouses and sandy beaches - all with minimal traffic on weekdays. There's some gentle curves and relaxing straights as you navigate the island with its ocean views. The short drive to Beavertail State Park Lighthouse is worth the detour and the road pavement is immaculate as of 2024.
Jamestown offers fun driving roads which can be accessed off of RI-138 between Newport and Narragansett.

Since Rhode Island is the smallest state in America, it's no wonder some of its best roads are shorter roads! If you're looking to find exceptionally good driving roads in Rhode Island, be sure to check out this little known hidden gem road. RI110 is located in the southern part of the state close to Narragansett. It's a delightfully smooth road, and it's perfect for sports car drivers who are looking for a pleasant drive. There's some nice curves and gentle dips and climbs in elevation.
RI-110 is an exceptionally good driving road in Rhode Island which can be started from Route 1 in South Kingston, RI.
