The Great River Road Scenic Byway is one of the best roads to drive in America. It's a curvy and fun driving road that follows the course of the Mississippi River. Drive along state parks and national monuments, as well as the historic and charming river towns. The best section to drive the scenic Great River Road for sports cars is the route between Dubuque and the Iowa border.
Follow the Mississippi River between Iowa’s southern and northern borders on the Iowa portion of the Great River Road National Scenic Byway.

For some of the best driving roads in Iowa, be sure to check out this excellent loop ride which detours off of the previously mentioned Great River Road. This exceptionally good driving road will take your sports cars through the many hills hills and valleys - all with scenic vistas along the way. For longer driving continue south on Iowa 76 following the Mississippi River. The road passes Effigy Mounds National Monument, and the road will offer the driver more tremendous views of the river and the bluffs.

The views from your sports car are beautiful, and the pavement quality in most sections make for smooth cruising. Another reason why this is a fun driving road for sports cars is that the road gets especially curvy in the northern part of the route as you drive closer to Little Sioux. There's also scenic overlooks to check out along the way, including on Murray Hill.

If you're looking for especially fun driving roads in Iowa, the route from Indianola to Red Rock Dam offers a perfect road for sports cars. This drive offers an abundance of countryside scenic views as you traverse the hills and twisty curves. Don't miss the nearby Cordova Observation Tower, as well as the Red Rock Dam. Both are worthy roadside stops to enjoy the scenery. The Mile Long Bridge is a fun diversion and beyond there will provide scenic views of Lake Red Rock.
